On Monday, September 18, in Columbus, Georgia, a father allegedly shot his four-year-old son in the head and the child’s mother in the chest.

Jacquese Antwan Walker, aged 35, was taken into police custody by the Columbus Police Department on September 19 after a search that spanned over 36 hours. Walker is confronted with multiple charges, including murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, in relation to the death of his son, Jacquese Walker Jr. Following these events, he was placed in Muscogee County Jail where he will await a court proceeding.

On the morning of the incident, police reached the scene shortly past 8 a.m. They found Marshama Bolden critically wounded, while her son had already succumbed to his injuries. Bolden was subsequently transferred to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital in a critical state.

In an interview with local media, Ernestine Freeman, Jacquese Jr.’s grandmother and mother to Bolden, discussed her prior concerns about Walker’s behavior towards her daughter, remarking, “He had been threatening her. I can’t do nothing about who my child loves.”

Bolden’s sibling, Marjae Connerly, expressed her strong disapproval of Walker’s actions. To aid with the young boy’s funeral costs, Connerly established a GoFundMe page. Reflecting on the relationship between Walker and her sister, Connerly shared, “Because that baby loved my sister.”
