Sierra Jamison, a 30-year-old Black woman from Chicago, was strangled outside her residence, after having survived a carjacking attempt.

Authorities have taken Lawrence Curtis Boyle, 63, into custody on charges of first-degree murder relating to Sierra’s death in September. Notably, Boyle was not unknown to Sierra or her family, having established a relationship of trust.

This tragedy occurred shortly before Sierra was to be featured on CBS2, addressing the topic of violence targeting Black women.

In her discussion with CBS2’s reporter, Dorothy Tucker, Sierra narrated her recent altercation with a carjacker. Although she was threatened by an individual wielding a weapon, quick action by nearby individuals ensured that the assailant’s efforts were unsuccessful. Sierra’s primary goal with this interview was to draw attention to the distinct adversities Black women confront.

Sierra had a promising career as a phlebotomist and was looking forward to joining a nursing program. Moreover, she was the primary source of support and care for her six-year-old son, diagnosed with autism, who had earlier faced a critical heart operation.
