Vermont State Police have uncovered two unidentified bodies in a remote woodland area in Eden, Vermont during their ongoing investigation into the disappearance of two young men from Massachusetts, Jahim Solomon of Pittsfield and Eric White of Chicopee, both aged 21.
The two men had been missing since October 15, 2023, having last been in contact with their families several days prior. Their travels reportedly took them through various communities, including Burlington, Lowell, Morrisville and Stowe. State police initially labeled their vanishing as occurring under “suspicious circumstances.”
At a press briefing on Wednesday afternoon, Major Dan Trudeau, the head of the Vermont State Police’s criminal division, relayed, “Right now we’re not able to make any identifications or any assumptions.” He further mentioned that no arrests have been made in connection with the discovery.
He emphasized that while the identities of the bodies remain uncertain, authorities are approaching the case as a homicide investigation.
When questioned about the connection between the found bodies and the missing Massachusetts duo, Major Trudeau was careful not to jump to conclusions. He said, “Part of the investigation led us to this area,” adding that an extensive search effort resulted in the discovery of both bodies, located less than a mile apart. He was firm in the belief that the incident was isolated.
The investigation, according to Trudeau, has pointed the authorities towards several suspects and persons of interest, primarily from the northern Vermont region. However, getting a consistent narrative from those interviewed has been challenging. “This is the kind of case that involves quite a number of people… It’s been complicated to get a true story or account from many of the people we’ve spoken to,” he commented. He also noted that some individuals vital to the investigation have been elusive, either evading the authorities or proving difficult to trace.
Major Trudeau concluded by saying that the police remain resolute in their efforts to uncover the truth behind the mysterious incident. The case continues to unfold as the Vermont community awaits answers.
