In the early hours of Tuesday, September 26, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, a woman and her pet dog were discovered dead from gunshot wounds. Johnathan Kliebert, a 19-year-old, turned himself in soon after the incident was reported.

At approximately 1:45 a.m., a call to 911 was made by Kliebert, stating that he had shot his mother, Ashley Kliebert, in their home. When deputies from the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s office reached the location, they found 46-year-old Ashley with fatal gunshot marks on her head. The family dog, also found shot, was nearby.

Kliebert, instead of escaping, stayed at a neighboring hospital’s parking area, indicating his willingness to be apprehended. His actions corresponded to his prior 911 call, in which he openly admitted to the shooting.

During the course of the inquiry, Kliebert described the incidents that culminated in the fatal shootings. He revealed that he woke up engulfed in strong anger, which led him to use a shotgun on his mother and the dog.

Following a detailed investigation, multiple charges, including murder, armed robbery, and animal cruelty, are now being pressed against Kliebert.
