12-Year-Old Boy Severely Injured by 10 Starving Dogs

On August 26, a serious incident involving a 12-year-old boy occurred in Rutherfordton, North Carolina.

Hunter Bishop was attacked by ten pit bulls while cycling to a friend’s home on Grassy Knob Road.

His mother, Amber Barnes, who found Hunter in a ditch after the attack, noted that the dogs looked extremely underfed.

Hunter was taken to Greenville Memorial Children’s Hospital. He remains in critical condition and has already undergone five surgeries.

The extensive nature of Hunter’s injuries made it a challenge for the doctors to find adequate skin for grafting procedures. Amber Barnes expressed her disbelief regarding the severity of the incident and her son’s resilience through it all.

The local authorities, specifically the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, are looking into the event, with potential charges against the dogs’ owners being considered.

The community has rallied to support the family. Amber Barnes initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist with the medical expenses, which, by the end of August, raised over $1,600.

Derek Bishop, Hunter’s father, reached out via Facebook, thanking the community and requesting continued prayers for his son.
