Sergio Brown, 35, formerly of the NFL, has been reported missing. His disappearance is especially alarming because Myrtle Brown, his 73-year-old mother, was found dead, showing evidence of assault injuries, close to a creek behind their home in Maywood, Illinois on September 16, 2023.

A substantial number of police officers were on site investigating the area around Addison Creek, the location where Myrtle was found. Earlier, with no word from Sergio, the Brown family had reached out to both the Maywood and Melrose Park police departments. Family and friends congregated at the Brown residence in anticipation of any news.

Sergio’s journey in football began at Proviso East High School and extended to Notre Dame. He embarked on his NFL career as an undrafted free agent for the New England Patriots in 2010. He subsequently played for teams like the Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Buffalo Bills, ending his tenure in the NFL in 2016.

The death of Myrtle Brown is a significant loss to the local Maywood community, where she was a revered figure. Officials are currently looking into her death as a potential homicide, which has amplified the need to locate Sergio. Sheila Simmons, Myrtle’s sister, voiced her anxiety after noticing unusual occurrences in Myrtle’s residence and her inability to get in touch for several days.

With the ongoing investigation, the Maywood police, alongside other agencies, are relentlessly tracking leads to piece together the sequence of events surrounding Myrtle’s untimely death and Sergio’s mysterious disappearance. The police encourage individuals with any related information to use their confidential tip line.

The broader community, particularly those affiliated with the NFL, eagerly await updates on this case, hoping for Sergio’s safe recovery and justice for Myrtle Brown.
