At Canyon Lake Middle School in Lake Elsinore, California, a tragedy occurred when a 12-year-old student, Yahshua Robinson, collapsed and died during gym class. This devastating incident took place amidst reported high temperatures in the 90’s.
Witnesses stated that Yahshua wasn’t wearing the appropriate gym clothes on that day. Despite expressing his unease and asking for water, he was instructed to run as punishment. Before his collapse, the student mentioned he was struggling to breathe.
Soon after the incident, emergency responders were alerted and the young boy was rushed to Loma Linda University Medical Center in Murrieta, California. At 12:55 pm, medical staff pronounced him dead.
Yahshua’s mother, who herself is a gym teacher, had previously cautioned nearby schools about the perils of outdoor exercises in such hot weather. She later faced the devastating news about her own son. The incident is currently under scrutiny by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Amarna Plummer, Yahshua’s aunt, initiated a GoFundMe page to provide assistance to the grieving family.
The Lake Elsinore Unified School District expressed its condolences to the Robinsons, who are now awaiting the results of an autopsy.
