On Monday, September 18, in Columbus, Georgia, a father allegedly shot his four-year-old son in the head and the child’s mother in the chest.

After a 36-hour manhunt, 35-year-old Jacquese Antwan Walker was arrested and taken into police custody on Tuesday, September 19, by the Columbus Police Department.

According to reports, Walker now faces charges of murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime related to the death of his son, Jacquese Jr. Following his arrest, he was taken to Muscogee County Jail, awaiting a court hearing.

Upon arriving at the crime scene on Monday morning shortly after 8 a.m., police discovered Marshama Bolden critically injured from multiple gunshot wounds. Her son had been pronounced dead at the scene. Marshama Bolden was immediately taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital in critical condition.

Ernestine Freeman, Jacquese Jr.’s grandmother and Bolden’s mother, spoke in an interview with WTVM. She mentioned she had witnessed signs of abuse between Walker and her daughter in the past and had hoped her daughter would leave before the situation turned deadly. Freeman said, “He had been threatening her. I can’t do nothing about who my child loves.”

Marjae Connerly, Jacquese Jr.’s aunt and Bolden’s sister, voiced her anger towards Walker, expressing her wish for him to “rot in jail.” Connerly has initiated a GoFundMe page to help fund Jacquese Jr.’s funeral service. Connerly made a heart-rending observation, noting that Walker allegedly despised moments when her sister was happy, implying it might have been a motivation for the fatal shooting of the child. She added, “Because that baby loved my sister.”

The community and family are left devastated by the incident, with many hoping for justice for the young life lost and the mother fighting for her life.
