Jackson, Mississippi became the scene of a tragic event on August 30. At around 9:30 pm, a 42-year-old man lost his life to gunshots in his own home, and simultaneously, a 10-month-old infant was abducted. The crime took place near the junction of Jayne Avenue and Willaman Street.

As described by Jackson police, four individuals – one woman and three masked men – stormed the house by forcibly kicking in the back door. Once inside, they conducted a robbery and, amid the chaos, took the baby at gunpoint. It was then that the male homeowner was allegedly shot by one of the male intruders.

Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of the female participant, Jazmyn Johnson, 18, at a local gas station. The baby was also found in her custody, safe and sound. Further inquiries revealed Johnson as the baby’s biological mother. Adding to the complexity of the situation, the deceased man was in a relationship with Johnson’s mother – the infant’s grandmother – who was present during the incident and had legal custody of the baby.

Johnson stands accused of several felonies, including capital murder, and her bail for this charge has been denied. A bond totaling $1.1 million has been set for the other alleged offenses. The manhunt for the trio of male suspects continues.
