Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York and formerly married to Prince Andrew, recently revealed Queen Elizabeth II’s last words to her.

The Queen, after an illustrious 70-year reign, passed away at the age of 96 in Balmoral, Scotland, on September 8, 2022.

During an episode of her podcast, “Tea Talks with the Duchess & Sarah,” on August 30, Ferguson disclosed the Queen’s advice: “Just be yourself, Sarah.”

The Duchess, who is 63 years old and recently battled breast cancer, conveyed how the illness encouraged her to be more genuine. Regarding the Queen’s sentiments, Ferguson noted, “She just got annoyed when I wasn’t being myself. But now I am myself, and I’m deeply grateful for it.”

The specific timing of when the Queen extended this counsel to Ferguson is not explicitly known. However, it was reported that the late monarch was in a cheerful disposition just a few days prior to her passing.

Sarah Ferguson, who was wed to Prince Andrew, King Charles’ younger sibling, from 1986 until 1996, shares two daughters with him – Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. After their split, there were noticeable tensions between Ferguson and the royal family. But the relationship seemed to have warmed in recent times, even though she was absent from pivotal royal ceremonies, including King Charles’ coronation.

Adding to the challenges this year, Ferguson was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in June and underwent a mastectomy shortly after. Her representative has assured the public of her well-being and a hopeful outlook on her health.
