On a seemingly normal day in Largo, Florida, a startling and tragic scene unfolded. A massive alligator was spotted carrying the remains of a human body down a street, eventually taking it into a nearby waterway.
A local resident, JaMarcus Bullard, was one of the first to witness the shocking event. Bullard reported seeing the alligator, which measured a staggering 13-foot 8.5 inches, holding the lower torso of the deceased individual in its jaws. Without delay, he reached out to the police and captured the incident on video.
The local police, alongside the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, promptly arrived at the scene. The alligator was humanely euthanized, allowing the recovery of the remains of the deceased individual from the canal. The remains were later identified as those of 41-year-old Sabrina Peckham.
The events leading up to this tragic incident remain uncertain. It’s known that alligators commonly inhabit lakes and rivers throughout Florida. However, an alligator of this size venturing into populated areas and carrying a human body is a rare and unsettling occurrence. In fact, this particular incident attracted the attention of many locals, some of whom captured the chilling moment on their cameras.
The exact circumstances surrounding the death of Sabrina Peckham are still under investigation. An autopsy will be carried out to ascertain the cause of her death. It’s also worth noting that Peckham had a prior arrest record; she had been apprehended in July for trespassing on a county wetland.
