On September 8, Linda Gregory, a 69-year-old sports photographer, passed away due to injuries sustained during an accident on September 4. The tragic incident took place during a junior varsity football game where she was inadvertently knocked over by players.

This event unfolded during a match between Wichita Northwest High School and Bishop Carroll High. Mel Gregory, Linda’s husband, informed the broader community about this tragedy through a Facebook post.

A representative from Wichita Northwest High School publicly acknowledged the valuable contributions Linda Gregory made as a photographer for their institution over several years.

Steve Martin, the coach of the football team, provided a detailed account, stating that while the photographer was capturing shots of the ongoing game, some players mistakenly moved off the field and collided with her. She hit her head on the concrete and suffered a concussion.

Immediately after the accident, she was rushed to a nearby hospital. Over the subsequent days, her health unfortunately worsened. Through a series of Facebook updates, Mel Gregory, who collaborated with his wife in a joint photography business, shared her deteriorating condition, including her being placed on life support due to brain bleeding.

Throughout her hospital stay, Linda Gregory was constantly surrounded by her loved ones, including children, family, friends, and colleagues. Her passing was publicly confirmed on Friday. That very evening, Wichita Northwest High School held a tribute to honor her work and the bond she shared with the student-athletes.

In light of the overwhelming support received from the community, Mel Gregory expressed plans to launch a foundation dedicated to helping upcoming photographers through scholarships.
