On Thursday, September 7, authorities identified the three individuals at Whitebirch Resort in Breezy Point, Minnesota who died in a murder-suicide.

Michael Charles Toner, 59, of Maple Grove, is believed to have shot Melanie Michele Jansen, 54, and her daughter, Hannah Nicole Parmenter, 29, of Elk River before taking his own life.

The incident occurred at the timeshare resort located about 150 miles northwest of Minneapolis. The bodies were found at approximately 8:50 pm on Tuesday, September 5.

The police were alerted to the situation after receiving a 911 call from Jansen’s son and the son’s spouse. They were visiting, and when their attempts to knock went unanswered, a look through the window revealed a concerning scene which prompted the emergency call.

Postmortem examinations carried out on Wednesday, September 6, showed that both women had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, while Toner’s injury was a gunshot wound to the head.

Donald Ryan, the Crow Wing County Attorney, mentioned that investigations are still in progress.
