On Monday, August 7, in Salem, Indiana, a woman defended her husband by shooting an intruder who had entered their front yard.

The intruder, Michael Chastain, 45, allegedly arrived at the couple’s home around 6:30 pm, driving onto their front lawn and confronting the male resident. Chastain proceeded to overpower the man, holding him at gunpoint. Upon witnessing the situation from inside, the man’s wife quickly accessed a firearm and directly engaged Chastain.

According to Sergeant John Davis of the Indiana State Police, the woman, after observing Chastain brandishing a weapon at her husband’s head, took decisive action, shooting Chastain. Emergency services transported the injured man to a local medical facility, where he succumbed to his injuries.

It was revealed that Chastain had prior affiliations with the couple’s daughter. She, however, was not present at the time of the occurrence.

Details surrounding Chastain’s motivations remain uncertain, despite his having a known criminal record. No charges have been placed against the homeowner, as per the updates from WLKY.
