On Saturday, July 29, a family trip to Lake Tahoe in California became tragic when Bill Siu, a father of four, met with a fatal jet ski accident. Siu, accompanied by his wife and children Kanoah, Melana, Ziggy, and Rico, was visiting the lake for the first time.
During their time on the water, turbulent conditions led to Siu and his wife, Alexie, being thrown off their jet skis. The couple was separated, and despite attempts, Siu’s wife couldn’t get to her husband, whom she saw panicking. Siu was later retrieved by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and taken to Sand Harbor hospital, where he was confirmed dead. The authorities are looking into the incident as an accidental drowning.
In the community, Siu, 37, was recognized not only as a family man but also as a dedicated football coach. He had recently achieved a championship win with the Clayton Valley Eagles in 2022. Siu also worked as a fitness coach in Concord’s P2P Transformation Center.
A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to assist the Siu family, and it has raised over $72,500 by August 3.
