A 15-year-old Texas teen was hit by a car while cycling to class on the first day of school.

The victim, Landon Bourque was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident occurred around 5:30 am in the Dallas suburb of McKinney. The McKinney Police Department, through a Facebook statement, reported that Bourque was crossing an intersection on his way to school when the accident occurred.

The vehicle driver immediately stopped and offered aid to Bourque, who had sustained grave injuries. Despite the driver’s efforts, the injuries proved insurmountable.

Bourque, a sophomore at Heritage High School, held a significant place in the school community. Officials from the Frisco Independent School District conveyed their sympathies, highlighting Bourque’s role as a valued campus member. The district’s statement expressed solidarity with the Bourque family and all affected.

As authorities pursue an inquiry into the incident, questions arise about the circumstances leading to the accident and why Landon was riding his bicycle at that hour. Bourque was a member of the football team and other parents stated that they often dropped their children off at practice that early in the morning.

In another unfortunate incident, 12-year-old Victoria Dai lost her life in Southlake, Texas after being hit by a pickup truck on August 3. She passed away shortly after being taken to the hospital. Dai, an enthusiastic soccer player, was a valued D’Feeters Kicks Soccer Club member of Frisco Independent School District officials. Her coach, Jay Vielma, described her as a motivating presence who consistently inspired her peers to excel.

In response to the tragedy, Coach Vielma, a passionate soccer fan, auctioned his Lionel Messi game tickets to cover Dai’s funeral expenses.
