Three teenagers are facing charges following a shooting incident that occurred on Thursday afternoon, August 10, in the men’s restroom of the Nashville, Tennessee Public Library’s Bordeaux Branch on Clarksville Pike.

Metro police reports indicate that a 14-year-old boy, accompanied by a 15-year-old boy, was followed into the library by two brothers aged 15 and 16. All three are residents of the same neighborhood and the 14-year-old had a previous dispute with the brothers.

The situation escalated in the restroom where multiple shots were fired. The 16-year-old shot himself in the foot and also struck the 14-year-old (the one that was followed into the library) in the groin area. The gunfire was confined to the restroom, and no other library patrons were present during the incident.

After the shooting, the injured 16-year-old left the library but was later found on Kingview Drive. He received medical attention and was transported for medical care. The 14-year-old was assisted by library staff until paramedics took him a hospital. Both teenagers are expected to make a full recovery.

Investigators found a semi-automatic pistol in the 14-year-old’s possession, suggesting he might have fired a shot. The firearm wasn’t reported as stolen; federal authorities are tracing its last registered owner.

The brothers are facing charges of attempted criminal homicide, reckless endangerment, and unlawful gun possession. The accompanying 15-year-old is facing charges of conspiracy to commit criminal homicide because he was part of the brothers’ plot. The charges for the 14-year-old are under review by the District Attorney’s Office.
