On Saturday morning, August 5, a prominent 40-year-old cancer doctor in New York City was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at her Westchester, New York home.
Dr. Krystal Cascetta, associated with Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, and her four-month-old baby were found deceased in their Westchester residence. Authorities have determined the cause was a murder-suicide.
The incident took place early in the morning in their Somers home. Dr. Cascetta was married to Tim Talty, 37, who was not present during the incident. The couple wed in 2019 in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint area.
Dr. Cascetta specialized in Hematology-Oncology and was particularly involved in breast cancer research. Her husband runs a protein bar business, Talty Bars, where Dr. Cascetta had also contributed her expertise.
Neighbors mentioned prior emergency visits to the residence. It’s also noted that Dr. Cascetta’s parents were in the house at the time. The investigation continues.
