A man from New Jersey shot his ex-wife and dog and later turned the gun on himself.
On Saturday, at approximately 5 am, Kimberly Hoffman, 49, dialed 911 to report a break-in at her residence. By the time officers arrived and entered the premises, it was too late. They found Hoffman’s body, lifeless from a gunshot wound to her face. Her dog was also discovered dead, having suffered multiple bullet wounds.
Her tattooed ex-husband, Carl Schulz Jr., 52, was found alive but critically injured. He later succumbed to his injuries at an Atlantic City hospital.
Police investigations have confirmed that Carl Schulz Jr. was the perpetrator of the incident. He shot Hoffman and her dog before turning the gun on himself. The motive behind the murder-suicide is still unknown.
Hoffman, a mother of two, served as the Director of Admissions at Seacrest Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center. A GoFundMe page has been established to support her grieving children. The community has come together in this time of need, raising over $52,000 to assist them.
