On Interstate 390 near Wayland, New York, a tragic accident occurred involving a passenger van transporting 13 people.
The van, en route to Niagara Falls from Pennsylvania, experienced a serious accident on Saturday, August 19, around 9:15 am. It’s believed a rear-wheel malfunction led to the driver, Adrian Andrade-Delores, 41, hitting the median, resulting in the van flipping multiple times.
The van, identified as a 2005 Ford model, was carrying three Pennsylvania families at the time of the incident. The New York State Police confirmed that one young male passenger, Alex Andrade, 12, was declared deceased on-site, and the other 12 occupants were dispatched to different hospitals for medical attention. The pregnant woman, Margarita Ramirez-Luna, 40, was among the injured and later passed away due to her injuries. Two critically injured passengers were sent to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. The van’s occupants ranged in age from 1-43
The vehicle’s condition post-accident was severe, evident from the photographs displaying inward-folded rear doors, a broken windshield, dents on the passenger side, and further damage on the roof.
Trooper Commander Brian J. Ratajczak confirmed the pregnant woman’s child was successfully delivered and is currently under medical care at Strong Memorial Hospital.
Officials have yet to release the identities of the other victims, and the investigation is in progress.
