“His Royal Highness” No More – Prince Harry Gets a Demotion

The official UK royal family website recently made modifications to Prince Harry’s title, omitting the “His Royal Highness” designation.

The media site Express first highlighted this change, noting that the title was present in his bio on Friday but was later revised. The update specifically addressed sections that mentioned Prince Harry’s 2016 initiatives on HIV/AIDS awareness. The term “His Royal Highness” (HRH) has been replaced with “the Duke” or “the Duke of Sussex.” Prince Harry was granted his dukedom in May 2018.

While some sections of the royal website still contain outdated information, including references to Queen Elizabeth’s status, Buckingham Palace stated that updates are ongoing since the Queen’s death.

The titles of Prince Harry and Meghan were settled in 2020 when they withdrew from royal responsibilities. The palace affirmed that they would not use the HRH titles but would be known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The couple, now based in California, often go by “Harry” and “Meghan.” Prince Harry’s succession order remains unchanged.

Upon King Charles’s ascension, titles for Harry and Meghan’s children, Archie and Lilibet, were revised. As of March, the palace’s website refers to them as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
