A woman aboard a United Airlines flight has been banned from flying with the airline after creating a scene causing the aircraft to be diverted on July 25.
The airline reported that the woman did not heed the flight attendants’ directives to remain seated, leading to an escalated disagreement. Clips of the incident, which have been shared on social media platforms, depict a flight attendant attempting to calm the woman, who challenges the decision to divert the flight to Phoenix.
It emerged during the disturbance that the woman had a disagreement with another traveler and might have consumed alcohol prior to the flight. The diversion resulted in travel delays, causing inconvenience to fellow passengers.
One of the passengers, TikTok user Blake Perkins, captured the event and expressed his dissatisfaction with the disruption caused by the woman’s actions.
United Airlines stated that upon landing in Phoenix, law enforcement officials escorted the woman off the plane. The flight continued to Los Angeles later that day. The airline has temporarily banned the woman from its flights while investigations are ongoing.
This incident is one of several recent examples of disruptive behavior on flights. United Airlines has dealt with similar situations in the past, including an incident involving a business class passenger on an international flight. The Federal Aviation Administration has recorded approximately 857 such incidents in the first half of this year.
