A 13-year-old girl lost her life in an unexpected accident on a bus.

Fernanda Pacheco Ferraz leaned her head out of a bus window to wave goodbye to her classmates when her head collided with a pole.

Ferraz, a student at Professor Carlos Côrtes State College, had just left her school and was on her way to the Catarcione neighborhood where she lived. Seated at the back of the bus, her farewell gesture became tragic as the driver swerved abruptly to avoid oncoming traffic on the narrow road. This maneuver caused her head to strike a pole at the side of the street, resulting in critical injuries.

The driver, with 13 years of service at Nova Faol, reacted swiftly to the alert raised by passengers about the accident.

Nova Faol, the bus company, expressed their regret over the unforeseeable incident and assured full cooperation with the investigation.

The local education authority, Seeduc, conveyed condolences to Ferraz’s family and the school community, offering support in this trying period. Following the incident, classes were suspended for two days to give the community time to mourn.

Despite the prompt arrival of first responders, Ferraz’s injuries proved fatal. She was laid to rest at the Trilha do Céu cemetery in a somber ceremony.
