On the evening of Aug. 23, a tragic event unfolded at Cook’s Corner, a recognized biker bar situated in Trabuco Canyon, Orange County, California.

The episode left four individuals dead, one of whom is the shooter, retired Ventura police sergeant, John Snowling, 59. The fatal victims have been identified as John Leehey, 67, Tonya Clark, 49, and Glen Sprowl, 53.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department swiftly responded to the alert, which was sent out just past 7 pm. Seven deputies engaged the armed male assailant who was shooting at them upon their arrival. Snowling, who was later found to have had four guns with him, was fatally shot during this encounter.

Apart from the fatalities, six individuals suffered injuries from randomly fired gunshots and were hurriedly moved to a trauma care facility.

The incident began with a domestic dispute between the gunman and his estranged wife, Marie Snowling, when he walked into the bar and opened fire on her and her dining companion. Marie was wounded, her companion was killed. It has been suggested that in the Snowling’s bitter divorce proceedings, Marie would have received half of her husband’s $117,000 pension. Snowling, who was living in Ohio, drove to California and targeted the bar where his wife was a regular.

Cook’s Corner had an attendance of roughly 30 to 40 individuals for a rock music show and spaghetti night during the incident.

Officials have scheduled interviews with several eyewitnesses to shed light on the incident.

The bar, nestled in the Santa Ana Mountains’ foothills, is about 50 miles from Los Angeles.
