A 27-year-old mother tragically lost her life after being accidentally run over by a lawnmower while lying in an area of tall grass at Beard Brook Park in Modesto, California, on July 8.
The victim, Christine Chavez, was unintentionally mowed over by a landscaping employee who was operating a pull-behind mower attached to a John Deere vehicle.
The horrifying incident was only discovered when the operator noticed the victim’s clothing and body parts dispersed on the ground. A deeply distressed Christopher Chavez, the father of the deceased, who arrived at the scene after the incident, alerted the police.
The victim was reportedly homeless at the time of the incident. The sudden and tragic loss of life has left the Chavez family and the wider Modesto community distressed.
Christine Chavez is survived by her nine-year-old daughter, who is now under the care of extended family members.
