Two Women Found Dead in Nevada Park

The bodies of two women were discovered in Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada on Saturday, July 22.

Setting off in the morning hours for a trail in the park, they didn’t return when expected. An observant group of hikers, noticing their absence, quickly notified the authorities.

An investigation was initiated by the Nevada State Police around 2:45 pm. As the search progressed, they stumbled upon a grim scene. One woman was discovered dead along a hiking trail. Park rangers requested the aid of a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police search and rescue team to search for the second woman. The outcome was equally tragic; she was found deceased in a canyon, police reports confirmed.

The identities of both women are withheld pending next of kin notification, and their causes of death are under investigation.

The park, located approximately 45 minutes northeast of downtown Las Vegas, was under intense heat that day, with temperatures climbing to triple digits.

This followed a recent incident involving the death of a 71-year-old hiker in nearby Death Valley National Park.

As a heatwave persists in Las Vegas, the Clark County Coroner’s Office reported 16 confirmed heat-related deaths earlier in the week. However, the toll might be higher.

With the continued excessive heat warning in Southern Nevada, authorities advise residents to take precautions and limit outdoor activities for safety.
