Police have confirmed the identities of two young siblings, aged six and 12, whose lifeless bodies were discovered in a river in Texas.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening, July 15, when Harris County authorities received a distress call reporting that the children had submerged in the water and failed to resurface at the San Jacinto River near the Xtreme Off-Road Park & Beach.

According to reports, a father was supervising three children near the water when he momentarily lost sight of the two siblings who were swimming. Local law enforcement officials dispatched a marine unit and various other departments to initiate a search and rescue operation, but their efforts were in vain.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez informed the public that his team, using a sonar-capable robot, recovered the bodies of both children after midnight.

Representatives from the Xtreme Off-Road Park and Beach clarified that the drownings occurred at a nearby marina, not within their facility.

Authorities also recovered the body of another missing swimmer in the San Jacinto River on Sunday, July 16. He had gone into the water to help rescue a woman who was drowning in the current; she survived. As a precautionary measure, the authorities used Twitter to issue a warning about the safety risks of the river. The message urged the public to exercise caution and adhere to recommended water safety practices.
