A Las Vegas family is grappling with the tragic loss of their toddler, who accidentally discharged a firearm at his caregiver’s home on the evening of Sunday, July 9, leading to his untimely death.
The incident occurred in a bedroom of an apartment situated close to Nellis Air Force Base, around 6:30 pm. It was there that Jaiangelis Stevenson, just two years old, unintentionally set off the gun, causing his death.
Emergency services transported the boy to the University Medical Center. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, the child was declared dead, as reported by authorities.
The matter is currently under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, which is probing into possible circumstances of neglect or abuse associated with the case.
Paris Box, aunt of the young Jaiangelis, disclosed that the toddler was under the supervision of a family member while his mother was away at work during the time of the tragic incident.
The family had fondly called him “Blue,” a nickname inspired by the color of his eyes, she reminisced.
