A 36-year-old mother of four lost her life after falling on a treadmill during her routine workout at LA Fitness gym in Kent, Washington.

Delrie Rosario was exercising in the gym accompanied by her sister, Marissa Woods, just like she did almost every day. She stumbled and hit her head on the treadmill while trying to slow it down.

Seeking help, Woods called out for someone to assist with CPR, but the staff did not intervene. Others stopped their workouts to provide help, though the gym staff remained uninvolved. LA Fitness declined to comment on the matter.

Despite efforts to save her, Rosario remained unconscious and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Known for her dedication to her children, Delaino, Rickey, Ric’Kae, and Delaiah, Rosario worked two jobs to provide for them. She was a mother who always prioritized her kids, as evident from her actions and her Facebook page, where she proudly referred to herself as “the momma.”

Following the incident, Rosario’s coworkers set up a GoFundMe page to support her children during this difficult time. The page also states that she was an organ donor, and her heart, lungs, kidneys and liver have been donated.

While treadmill-related deaths are rare, injuries are more common. According to a 2019 report by the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s National Electronic Injury Surveillance System, exercise equipment injuries result in over 400,000 Americans seeking treatment annually.

In particular, treadmill use in homes accounted for nearly 16,000 emergency room visits in 2020.
