Wrestling icon Hulk Hogan has embraced a new and healthier mindset since his official retirement in 2012.
In a recently released “Gym & Fridge” video segment with Men’s Health, the 69-year-old wrestling legend candidly talked about his sobriety and his diet transformation. Hogan shared that he had decided to remove alcohol from his life entirely and had managed to stay sober for the past six months. He confessed that during his wrestling days, he had relied on alcohol to manage both business and personal issues. However, understanding the toll it was taking on his health, especially following rigorous training sessions, he resolved to give it up.
Currently, Hogan has directed his attention towards a diet filled with organic food and plenty of water. When younger, he admitted, his knowledge about food quality was limited. Today, he prioritizes self-education to make healthier dietary decisions.
As he nears his 70th birthday, Hogan remains committed to his fitness routine, aiming for a slimmer physique. These changes to his lifestyle have already led to him losing 40 lbs., a significant accomplishment given the damage wrestling had inflicted on his body over the years.
Over the course of his career, Hogan has endured multiple surgeries – ranging from knees to back, facial repairs, and hip replacements. He estimated around 25 to 26 operations over a period of 10 to 12 years. These physical challenges were what led Hogan to reconsider his lifestyle. He acknowledged his reduced mobility and chronic pain necessitated weight loss, with a target weight of approximately 265 lbs, saying the last time he weighed 265 was in ninth grade.
By prioritizing his health, focusing on his diet, and maintaining a regular exercise regimen, Hogan has noticed substantial improvements. He says he feels energized and full of life, appreciating the newfound freedom from the physical and emotional weight he previously carried.
