Connecticut Pastor Killed by Cop Car

pastor died in an accident involving a police patrol cruiser in Stamford, Connecticut on Wednesday, July 26.

The deceased, Reverend Tommie Jackson, 69, was struck by 24-year-old Stamford Officer Zachary Lockwood’s patrol car as he was stopping by his mailbox. Reverend Jackson served as an advisor to the police department, and his wife was a commissioner there.

The collision occurred around 4:12 pm on a right-curving street. Officer Lockwood attempted to avoid Reverend Jackson by making an evasive steering maneuver but the attempt was unsuccessful and ended in the crash. 

After the incident, Officer Lockwood administered CPR to Reverend Jackson until medical personnel arrived, but he died at Stamford Hospital. Officer Lockwood has been placed on administrative leave as the Connecticut State Police investigate the incident. He had been serving with the Stamford Police Department since April 2022.

The pastor’s untimely passing has affected both the local community and the police department, where he was appreciated and well-respected for his advisory role. Assistant Chief Silas Redd expressed his sadness over the loss, acknowledging Reverend Jackson’s positive impact over the past 25 years as a source of guidance and support for many.
