In an incident at a dog park, a miniature dachshund named Lola and her owner, Isabelle Payne, almost died when they were viciously attacked by a large bull terrier.

The terrifying episode, which took place on the Gold Coast of Australia, occurred just weeks before Payne’s approaching wedding.

Payne and Lola, joined by Payne’s fiancé Jacob Thirkettle, were at the off-leash park when the bull terrier attacked them. Both owner and pet received serious injuries, with Payne acquiring scratches, bruises, and bite marks while trying to safeguard Lola.

As the wedding drew near, Thirkettle established a GoFundMe page to collect funds for Lola’s medical bills.

The couple thanked the bystanders who stepped in to help them, which contributed significantly to Lola’s survival. Following the attack, Lola was immediately taken to a veterinarian for surgery to heal cuts on her back and near her ribcage. Although the procedure was successful, Lola’s recovery process continues, necessitating further veterinary care.

Their GoFundMe campaign surpassed the original goal of $2,000, with an additional $520 donated by kind-hearted Australians. Grateful for the outpouring of support, Thirkettle and Payne expressed their deep thanks for the contributions and encouraging messages they received, providing updates on Lola’s recovery through an Instagram video.
