In a series of early morning attacks on Sunday, July 2, three businesses in Washington, DC were targeted with explosive devices and a Molotov cocktail.

The three incidents unfolded within a span of 15 minutes, striking a Truist Bank, a Nike store, and a Safeway grocery store. The Nike store’s location is noteworthy as it’s in close proximity to the US Supreme Court and Capitol buildings.

The Truist Bank was the first to be hit at around 4:30 a.m., when an explosive was detonated near an ATM situated on the sidewalk. Following this, at 4:36 a.m., a second explosive went off outside the Nike store on H Street. Then at 4:45 a.m., the perpetrator targeted the Safeway store on 40th Street, hurling a Molotov cocktail-like object through a window.

Despite the scale of these attacks, there were no reports of injuries. The timing suggests that the attacker aimed to inflict damage on the properties rather than injure individuals. At this point, the authorities have not disclosed any information regarding the suspect or the possible motives behind these incidents.

The Metro Police, in collaboration with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, are currently investigating these attacks. The DC police are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for any information leading to an arrest and conviction.
