A 23-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries on Saturday evening after a fall from a building in lower Manhattan, according to the New York Police Department report.
Upon receiving a distress call around 5:11 pm on Saturday, June 3, concerning an unconscious female who had fallen from a building situated at 39 Walker Street in Tribeca, the police arrived. The young woman was transported to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition, where she was later pronounced dead, according to police officials.
Information indicates that the woman, whose name is not being made public, demonstrated abnormal behavior before plummeting from the window on the fourth floor. During her stay in New York City, she reportedly visited the Bortolami art gallery, which is housed within the first two floors of the same five-story building in Tribeca.
Rather than remain inside the gallery, she made her way up to the fourth floor and suddenly leapt out of a window, landing in the backyard, according to a source. The woman exhibited uncontrolled behavior, including ripping down the blinds, opening the window with force, and jumping out, as per a source.
The specifics surrounding the incident and the motivations leading to her tragic descent are not known. A large number of police, firefighters, and medical emergency personnel were at the scene.
Saturdays are usually the gallery’s busiest days, during which visitors have unrestricted movement between the first two floors through an open corridor. Access to the fourth floor, which houses apartments valued at $2.5 million, is generally limited.
