A fisherman was attacked by a shark and dragged off his boat in Everglades National Park, Florida. The incident was captured in a video that has gone viral.
The video shows the fisherman standing at the water’s edge when, out of nowhere, a shark emerges, snatches him, and pulls him under the surface. His shocked companions yell out as he battles to regain his footing on the boat, leaving a bloodied streak on its side.
The park rangers’ swift intervention led to the victim being airlifted to a nearby hospital by the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue team.
Michael Russo, a fishing guide who was onboard the boat during the dreadful incident, shared additional information about the attack on his Instagram page.
According to Russo, his friend Nick had just released a snook back into the water and was rinsing his hands when an unexpected attack from a large lemon shark occurred. Russo noted that there were no signs of blood or chum in the water that could have provoked the shark.
The video shows Nick releasing a fish into the water before rinsing his hands once more. As he bends over for the second time, a large gray shark jumps out of the water, clamping onto his hand, causing it to hit the boat’s side as he is pulled into the water.
