Two Americans were discovered dead in their hotel room on Tuesday evening, June 13, as confirmed by local authorities.

According to the police, paramedics were alerted on Tuesday about the unconscious state of the Americans, whose identities were initially reported as being in their mid-30s, at their Hotel Rancho Pescadero in El Pescadero, Mexico at about 9 pm. Unfortunately, both individuals had already died by the time medical professionals arrived. Preliminary investigations suggest the cause of death may be attributed to gas inhalation.

The victims have been identified as Abby Lutz, 22, and John Heathco, 41, with the Baja California Sur Attorney general’s office stating that Lutz hails from Newport Beach, California.

Authorities confirmed that the two had died about 11 hours before their discovery. The Attorney General’s Office further noted that no signs of violence were present on their bodies.

Hotel Rancho Pescadero, the location of the incident, is a luxury establishment affiliated with the Hyatt brand. Despite a request for comment on the matter, the Hyatt has not yet responded.

The local attorney general is currently leading the investigation into this tragic incident.
