A father of six was fatally shot while attending his daughter’s high school graduation party in Texas.

Adam Tobias, a Texas father of six, was fatally shot while at his daughter’s high school graduation party.

Tobias, 35, was gunned down in the early hours of Friday, May 26 at a residence in Houston. Destiny, Tobias’s daughter, cradled her father in the aftermath of the shooting, a heartrending story recounted by her stepmother, Neftaly Perez. Perez, Tobias’s wife of 16 years, was not at the scene during the shooting, and their five sons were also absent.

The suspected shooter is 24-year-old Philip Arning, the former boyfriend of Destiny’s biological mother. An argument about Tobias’s presence at the mother’s house sparked the incident. Destiny vocally challenged Arning’s right to be there.

Arning stands accused by Perez of ruthlessly ending Tobias’s life without provocation. Currently out on bail, Arning is set to appear in court next Tuesday.

To help with the unexpected funeral costs, a GoFundMe page has been created and has gathered over $6,000 thus far.
