New Jersey authorities have initiated an investigation into a murder-suicide that happened on Saturday, leaving two men dead and the injury of a woman.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the shooting, authorities announced on Sunday.
At around 11:30 pm on Saturday, June 10, Newark police swiftly responded to a reported shooting. Officers found Isaiah Cobb, 33, at the scene with apparent gunshot wounds. Cobb was pronounced dead on-site at 11:45 pm.
Officers also found Terrance Carroll, 51, with an apparent gunshot wound and promptly transported him to University Hospital for medical intervention. Unfortunately, Carroll’s injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced deceased at 12:13 am on Sunday.
A female victim, who has not yet been publicly identified, sustained injuries and is under evaluation at a local hospital.
Law enforcement sources indicate that Carroll allegedly shot Cobb, who reportedly had an affair with his wife. According to the source, Carroll parked his vehicle across the street from Cobb’s and remained inside throughout the night, patiently waiting. Subsequently, he shot Cobb in the temple while the 33-year-old man was seated in his car’s driver’s seat. Following the shooting, Carroll retreated to his home, where he allegedly assaulted his wife before shooting himself.
Authorities have refrained from disclosing her identity or confirming whether Carroll and his wife were separated.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities urge anyone with more information about the shooting to come forward.
