A newlywed man tragically drowned during his honeymoon in Hawaii.

On June 1, Steven Phan and his wife Brittany were celebrating their recent nuptials in Honolulu when the incident unfolded. Phan went snorkeling at Electric Beach and tragically never resurfaced.

Responding swiftly to the situation, a spear fisherman was able to retrieve Phan and bring him to the beach. Onlookers promptly began performing CPR and continued until emergency services arrived, as per the reports. Regrettably, despite their best efforts, Phan could not be resuscitated.

Adding to the couple’s sorrow, opportunistic thieves seized the moment to steal all their personal items amidst the ensuing pandemonium. The stolen items included their mobile phones, wallets, cash, and even the car they had rented. The heartbreaking incident was shared on a GoFundMe page that was set up to aid Phan’s bereaved wife.

Following public demands for better safety provisions, the authorities in Honolulu have announced their intention to erect a new lifeguard stand at Electric Beach. This decision was made in response to community worries about the insufficient number of first responders at the city’s beaches, triggered by the unfortunate demise of Steven Phan.
