A group of Florida teenagers employed at a local steakhouse died when their car veered off the road and submerged in a retention pond, resulting in their deaths.
The deceased were employees of a neighborhood steakhouse, excluding one youngster.
Their sunken black Kia sedan was discovered on Monday, June 26, and three males along with two females, aged 18 and 19, were found deceased in the car adjacent to Interstate 75.
The identities of the victims were revealed as Amanda Ferguson, Eric Cox, Breanna Coleman, and Jackson Eyre. These four worked at the Texas Roadhouse in Fort Myers. However, the employment status of the fifth victim, Jesus Salinas, remains unannounced.
Jackson Eyre, a recent South Fort Myers High School graduate, was planning on attending Fort Myers Technical College later this year, said a news press. His father, Willie Eyre, an ex-professional baseball pitcher and high school team coach, was overwhelmed with grief over his son’s untimely demise.
Eric Cox, 19, another casualty of the accident, was a high school graduate with dreams of becoming a firefighter, shared his father. The Texas Roadhouse became the venue of a spontaneous memorial featuring half-staff flags, honoring the deceased teens.
The Fort Myers Police Department spokesperson, Kristin Capuzzi, revealed that the incident took place between Sunday night at 10:30 pm and early hours of Monday. The teenagers were reported missing around 4 am, which triggered an ongoing investigation into the catastrophic incident.
