Two brothers tragically lost their lives in a cliff diving accident at Fort Gibson Lake, Oklahoma.

The emergency services of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol sprang into action following a distress call they received on Friday, June 9, about a possible drowning accident at the lake. Preliminary investigation uncovered that out of the three people who had jumped off from the Rocky Point region into the lake, only one managed to come up to the surface.

The deceased brothers were among a group of four, caught off guard by an unexpected storm during their diving session off the cliffs. The sudden onset of high winds and massive waves made it exceedingly challenging for them to exit the water.

Kalub Mayton, just 16 years old, noticed his brother struggling and reentered the water in an attempt to save him, but tragically, both brothers lost their lives.

A dedicated search team of professional divers was dispatched to the site. The intensive search concluded with the retrieval of the bodies of Kalub and his elder brother Damian Mayton on the subsequent morning, June 10.

Damian, 19 years old, an alumnus of Fort Gibson Public Schools, and Kalub, a current pupil, were beloved figures in their community. The local school district expressed their deep sorrow in a Facebook post, emphasizing the significance of the fond memories of the departed brothers.

The Mayton brothers hailed from the town of Okay, situated 50 miles south of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
