Three people were killed and three others injured in a shooting incident on Sunday night, June 11, in a residential area in Annapolis, Maryland.
Annapolis Police Chief Edward Jackson disclosed in a media update that the shooting was triggered by an interpersonal conflict, assuring citizens that there was no ongoing threat to community safety.
Chief Jackson underscored that the probe was still in full swing and evolving, with many aspects yet to be elucidated. While the specifics of the relationship among the parties involved remain undisclosed, the victims—ranging in age from their early 20s to 50s—were discovered dead outside a residence. Authorities are yet to ascertain a conclusive motive for the shooting.
The incident’s locale, a neighborhood situated south of the city center near the waterfront, was sealed off by an array of law enforcement vehicles. Law enforcement responded promptly to the shooting, which was reported at around 8 pm.
Per a police department press release, one injured person was airlifted to a trauma center. The release also verified that a suspect was in custody. However, Chief Jackson characterized this individual as a “person of interest,” clarifying that no charges had been lodged against them to date.
A weapon believed to be associated with the incident has been recovered by law enforcement. As the probe continues, authorities are striving to reconstruct the sequence of events preceding the shooting and to gather further information.
