A two-year-old girl, who had been missing, was found dead in an open well next to her daycare center.

The discovery occurred at Watch Me Grow Day Care in Cobourg, Ontario last Thursday, May 25, when the child’s mother, Claire, came to pick her up. The daycare staff didn’t notice the toddler’s absence until her mother’s arrival.

Vienna Rose Irwin, the missing toddler, was found in the nearby well approximately an hour after an intensive search was launched.

Eyewitness accounts describe a chilling scene as both daycare employees and law enforcement desperately tried to locate the missing toddler.

The Ontario Provincial Police verified the situation, stating that a child was reported missing from an address in Hamilton Township and was later found dead. A comprehensive investigation is currently in progress. The police, in collaboration with Ontario’s chief coroner, are scrutinizing every detail of the events leading to the child’s death. The daycare staff are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

Watch Me Grow Day Care has maintained a clean record, with no major incidents reported in the past, and it is fully licensed, as affirmed by the Ministry of Education.

In the wake of this tragic event, a GoFundMe campaign has been established and has garnered substantial support, collecting more than $120,000 so far.
