An 18-year-old resident of Nash, Texas, was taken into custody and charged with capital murder following the alleged shooting of his parents, sister, and brother.

On Tuesday, May 23 in the evening, emergency services received a distress call regarding Cesar Olalde, a local teenager allegedly attacking his family members and expressing suicidal intentions. Upon reaching the scene, officers discovered Olalde sequestered inside a house.

According to Nash Police officer Craig Buster’s probable cause affidavit, it was Olalde himself who later alerted the authorities, admitting to his actions. Following successful negotiations that led to his surrender, a search of the property revealed the dead bodies of his parents, Reuben Olalde and Aida Garcia, his sister Lisbet Olalde, and brother Oliver Olalde in the residence’s bathroom.

The affidavit detailed that the victims were initially shot in various parts of the house before being relocated to the bathroom. The residence was strewn with expended shell casings, and traces of blood were found throughout.

The shocking incident came to light when a concerned coworker of Lisbet Olalde, alarmed by her unexplained absence from work, went to her residence accompanied by a relative. Upon entering the home, they were confronted by Olalde, armed with a firearm. The coworker subsequently alerted the police, saying that Olalde confessed to murdering his family because he believed they were cannibals plotting to harm him.

Following the incident, Olalde appeared before the Bowie County court, where his bail was set at a staggering $10 million.

Nash, a small community located near the Arkansas state border, has an approximate population of 3,800.
