Meghan Markle was seen hiking with some friends near her Montecito, California home on May 7, donning Princess Diana’s expensive iconic Cartier watch.
Meghan chose not to attend her father-in-law’s coronation ceremony, opting to be with her children instead. Paparazzi captured her hiking with friends Heather Dorak and Markus Anderson.
The Duchess of Sussex wore the Cartier watch alongside a diamond tennis bracelet, thought to have been gifted to Princess Diana by King Charles. Meghan’s ensemble included a black tank top, leggings, a fedora, and Victoria Beckham sunglasses. Her choice of jewelry attracted attention and seemed to be in homage to her late mother-in-law.
Meghan has frequently been spotted wearing the Cartier watch and diamond tennis bracelet, including during her 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey. Interestingly, Prince Harry used two diamonds from the bracelet to design Meghan’s engagement ring.
Wearing such pricey jewelry on a hike may seem unusual, but some believe it was a deliberate statement. While Prince Harry briefly attended King Charles III’s coronation the previous week, Meghan remained at home to celebrate their son Archie’s fourth birthday. Royal biographer Omid Scobie reported that Meghan opted not to attend the coronation in order to preserve her peace of mind.
