A man allegedly shot two of his family members and a fast-food worker before taking his life in Moultrie, South Georgia.
On Thursday, May 4, a security camera at a McDonald’s in Moultrie recorded the tragic incident. The footage revealed that 26-year-old Kentavious White, suspected of fatally shooting his mother and grandmother, shot his manager before committing suicide.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said the security footage from the McDonald’s showed White luring the store manager, Amia Smith, 41, to the door and shooting her. He then entered the restaurant and turned the gun on himself. When the police arrived, they found both White and the manager deceased.
Further investigation led police to two neighboring homes, located less than two miles away, where two women related to White had also been shot. Unfortunately, both women succumbed to their injuries, with one passing away at the hospital. Colquitt County Coroner C. Verlyn Brock reported that all three women had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
The coroner identified the two victims as White’s mother, 50, and grandmother, 74, who were next-door neighbors. The authorities have not released their names, and efforts are underway to notify their next of kin.
Moultrie police sought the assistance of the Bureau to lead the ongoing investigation, a common practice for major crimes in Georgia.
Jerry Goodwin, a neighbor living next door to White and his family, revealed that his wife had heard gunshots before 1 am on Thursday. Goodwin mentioned a previous incident earlier in the week when the suspect had fired a gun outside while shouting, and the Moultrie police had responded at that time.
However, when the latest incident occurred, it appeared that the police did not respond immediately. Goodwin stated that law enforcement and an ambulance arrived just before 6 am.
Goodwin admitted to not knowing his neighbors well, although White had sought his advice on installing a fence when he moved in several years ago. Goodwin added that he had never witnessed any aggressive behavior from White before.
