The murder of a teenage girl, enticed into a man’s home with the bait of Disney cups, has resulted in a 50-year prison sentence for her ruthless killer.
The crime, committed by 53-year-old Arthur Jensen of Sheldon, Illinois, resulted in the death of 17-year-old Adara Bunn in 2019.
The lengthy jail term for Jensen was handed down by Iroquois County Circuit Court Judge Michael Sabol on May 15, according to the Iroquois County State’s Attorney’s Office.
The crime occurred on August 5, 2019, when Bunn visited Jensen’s home, attracted by the possibility of purchasing Disney memorabilia. Having previously bought Pocahontas cups from Jensen at a yard sale, Bunn returned for more, unknowingly entering a fatal trap.
Assistant State’s Attorney Michael Quinlan marked this brutal crime as one of the most appalling murders he has ever witnessed. Jensen took advantage of his wife’s absence to invite the unsuspecting Bunn back to his home.
Startled neighbors heard distressing screams emanating from Jensen’s home and alerted the police. Upon their arrival, Jensen coldly confessed to the brutal act of strangling Bunn. Officers discovered Bunn’s body inside Jensen’s residence and arrested him.
Further investigations disclosed that Bunn first crossed paths with Jensen at a neighborhood garage sale the weekend prior to her horrific death. Jensen, exploiting her enthusiasm for Disney items, lured her into his deadly trap.
Adara Bunn, known lovingly as Sissy, was a promising student entering her junior year with dreams of a career in veterinary medicine.
