At least ten people were killed, and nine others were injured when a gunfight broke out during a car show on Saturday.

In the small coastal town of San Vicente on the Baja California Peninsula in Mexico, just after two in the afternoon, a peaceful car show turned into a scene of carnage. The event transpired on the last day of a thrilling two-day off-road car event.

Images and videos recorded by onlookers soon began making the rounds on various social media platforms. The videos captured rows of off-road vehicles parked along a roadside and the petrifying audio of numerous gunshots being fired amidst terrified screams. According to local authorities, several attackers with rifles rushed out of two gray vans stationed at a nearby petrol station, beginning an unexpected onslaught on the car show attendees.

Assistance came from multiple directions, with the municipal and state police, the Marines, the Fire Department, and the Mexican Red Cross all rushing to the location. Additional distressing visuals showed attendees scampering in fear as the arena transformed into a battlefield, with several casualties visible.

The shower of bullets ended as quickly as it began, with the assailants retreating back into their vans and making an escape.

Those wounded in the skirmish were transported to various medical facilities in northern Baja California, under the supervision of the Mexican Red Cross. The specifics about the victims, including their identities and nationalities, are still undisclosed. However, the Agencia Fronteriza de Noticias’ director attributed this gruesome event to the existing animosity between the CJNG cartel and the Sinaloa cartel, as reported by the Times of San Diego.

Following the deadly encounter, Attorney General Ricardo Ivan Carpio Sanchez promised an extensive special investigation into the incident.
