Actor Woody Harrelson thinks fellow actor Matthew McConaughey could be his long-lost bro and wants to take a DNA test to find out!
When they were on Kelly Ripa’s podcast, “Let’s Talk Off Camera,” McConaughey said that his mom once told them she “knew” Woody’s dad during a break from her husband. This got everyone talking, including Woody, who mentioned it on Stephen Colbert’s “The Late Show” and said he wanted them to do a DNA test. The two were in Greece watching the World Cup when McConaughey’s mom dropped the bombshell.
But McConaughey isn’t so sure about the DNA test. On Ripa’s podcast, he said it’s tough since it might show that the man he’s known as his dad for 53 years isn’t his real father. Woody talked to McConaughey’s mom about it, and she said she knew Woody’s dad the year before McConaughey was born.
According to “Entertainment Tonight,” McConaughey’s parents were married three times and divorced two times. McConaughey’s not too excited about the DNA test since he could be “losing a father.” But Woody thinks that even if McConaughey loses a father, he’d be gaining another dad and a brother.
These two actors have worked together a lot, like in the movies EDtv, Surfer, Dude, and season one of HBO’s True Detective. McConaughey calls Woody his “brother from another mother” in many of his social media posts. They are promoting their new project, “Brother from Another Mother,” and McConaughey says their families often mix them up in photos, which just adds to the sibling rumors.
McConaughey grew up in Uvalde, Texas, while Woody, eight years older, was born in Midland, Texas, not too far from Uvalde.
Even if they’re not related, this whole story is great publicity for their new project!
