On Monday, a 25-year-old woman, who still had shackles and handcuffs on her arms and legs, reported her terrifying ordeal at a Staten Island police station. She managed to escape the converted bus where she had been repeatedly raped and beaten after nine hours of captivity.
The suspect in the alleged rape has been identified as 30-year-old Staten Island resident Alexander Isaac.
In addition to Isaac, another man and his two children were discovered in the converted bus. The other man was arrested for endangering the children’s welfare, and evaluations were scheduled for the children.
In addition to being handcuffed and shackled, the victim stated that Isaac had placed a shirt around her mouth and raped her. She was punched, thrown against the wall, and struck with a belt.
The New York Police Department immediately went to a parking lot on Central Avenue and discovered two vehicles owned by the suspect. They discovered a pipe bomb, chemicals, a 3D printer, and a portion of a Glock pistol print while searching the converted bus in which the woman had been held. They were classified as “suspicious materials” by the police. Despite being commercially available, the Department of Environmental Protection determined that these materials required removal and proper disposal.
According to his neighbors, the suspect was a “quiet man” who did not engage in conversation. The relationship between the victim and the suspect is unknown.
On Tuesday, Isaac was arrested, and on Wednesday, he was arraigned. He was charged with rape, criminal sex acts, unlawful imprisonment, criminal possession of a weapon, and kidnapping. The bail amount was set at $200,000 in cash or $700,000 in bond. Online records also reveal the issuance of a temporary order of protection.
